Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Delhi, and then drive to Jaipur. When you arrive at Delhi Airport or the Railway Station, a friendly staff member will meet you and show you to your private driver. A half-day guided tour of Delhi is a terrific way to kick off your trip. It will take you to famous places including the beautiful Qutub Minar, India Gate, and Rashtrapati Bhavan, which is the President's House. Drive by Connaught Place, which is the city's business center and is normally highly busy. In the afternoon, drive to Jaipur, which is also called the Pink City. When you get there, check in to your hotel and relax. Stay in Jaipur overnight.

Day 2

Visit Jaipur, the Pink City. After breakfast, go to the Amber Fort on a hilltop to start your tour of Jaipur. You can either ride an elephant or drive to the fort, depending on what you have. The next thing to see is the City Palace. It has a great mix of Mughal and Rajput architecture styles. Then go to Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its astrological equipment. The famous Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, is an excellent site to shoot pictures. Then you'll get some free time to check around Jaipur's crowded markets, which are famous for their jewelry, textiles, and crafts. Stay the night in Jaipur.

Day 3

Drive to Jaipur to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri Go to Agra after breakfast. Emperor Akbar built the Mughal capital of Fatehpur Sikri and then departed it. Day 4

Sightseeing in Agra Get up early to see the Taj Mahal in the morning, when the light makes the marble look different. After breakfast at the hotel, go to the beautiful Agra Fort. It used to be the home of Mughal kings and queens, but now it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, visit the beautiful Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, which is popularly called the Baby Taj. What makes it stand out is the detailed inlay work in the marble. Go to Mehtab Bagh, a garden by the river with great views of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River. Stay overnight in Agra. The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday.

Day 5

Take the train from Agra to Varanasi in the evening. Aarti of the Ganga Get up early and go to the train station. Take a train to Varanasi on 6am. When you get there, meet your guide and go to your hotel. In the evening, visit Dashashwamedh Ghat to see the lovely Ganga Aarti. People do this religious event on the banks of the holy Ganges River. It includes lighting, chanting, and music that goes with the stream. Stay in Varanasi for the night.

Day 6

Leaving Varanasi after Sightseeing In the morning, take a boat trip on the Ganges River to get your day started. Along the ghats, you may witness pilgrims do their daily rituals. Go to the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the well-known Banaras Hindu University, and Sarnath, where Lord Buddha gave his first speech after becoming enlightened. When you're done seeing everything, go to the airport or train station to keep on. This is the end of your long trip.
